Mental performance coaching for baseball

Talent gets you noticed. A strong mind keeps you in the game.

I work with baseball players, their families and academies to train what a tryout doesn't show: confidence, handling pressure, and bouncing back after a bad day. Twenty-three years in baseball taught me that the arm opens the door, but the mind is what keeps you in.

Who it's for

One game, four doors

Everyone comes in carrying something different. Working with a 15-year-old prospect is not the same as working with an academy director.

Players

Prospects who get frustrated, freeze in big games or feel too much pressure. And signed players who want to take the next step.

What we work on

What never shows up in the box score

These are the situations I see most often in young players, and the ones that weigh the most when the opportunity comes.

How I work

A process with a beginning and an end

This isn't talk for the sake of talk. Every process has clear goals and ends when the player can keep going on his own.

Assessment

A first meeting to get to know the athlete: his story, his baseball and family context, his strengths and what's holding him back.

Plan

We set concrete goals together. From day one the athlete knows where we're going.

Sessions and tasks

Conversation, practical exercises and tasks that carry the work onto the field and into daily life.

Progress and close

We measure progress against the goals and what shows up in games. We close when the player has his own tools.

About

I'm Vicente Arias

I've spent 23 years in baseball, in player development and as an international scout. Over that time I watched plenty of gifted kids fall short. They had the arm and the bat. What they lacked was the mental strength to handle pressure, bounce back from a bad day and make good decisions off the field.

That's why I trained in mental toughness and sports coaching, and earned a master's degree in Educational Neuropsychology. As a school counselor I know up close what a teenager and his family go through.

“I don't just prepare players to compete. I help them grow as athletes and as people.”

I'm from Baní, a land of ballplayers. I work with prospects, signed players, families and academies, in person and online, in Spanish or English.

My commitment

Clear from day one

No promises of a contract

No honest person can. What I do is get the player ready so that when his chance comes, his head is ready too.

No cut of the bonus

I don't, and never will, take a percentage of a player's signing bonus. I get paid for my work, not for what anyone signs.

Coaching, not therapy

If I see signs that call for clinical care, I tell the family and refer the player to a licensed mental health professional.

Let's get to know each other

The first step is an initial assessment. Message me on WhatsApp and we'll find a day and time. If the player is a minor, a parent or legal guardian always books the appointment.
